Seedling production is of great importance in the process of growing tobacco for commercial purposes. Great seedlings entail a possibility of realizing the full genetical potential yield from any given tobacco variety. Seedling production therefore calls for attention to detail. The ideal seedling for transplanting should have a stem 15-17cm long and 6-10 mm thick. It should be well hardened and with 8 to 10 leaves. The root system should be strong, well developed and carefully protected from desiccation.
